The materials test reactor (JMTR) and research reactor (jrr-3) of Japan atomic energy research institute use beryllium as reflective layer material. In addition, because of its low density (like heavy water), beryllium can also be used as a speed reducer in nuclear reactors, unlike heavy water, which evaporates at 100 .

The application of beryllium in this field can also be extended to thermonuclear fusion reactor plasma confinement ring.

Beryllium is also widely used in the aerospace industry. Beryllium is used in parts for aircraft controls and disc brakes for military aircraft in the United States.

Applications of aircraft, spacecraft and rocket navigation devices include the skin of the front cabin of the Agena spacecraft, the quilt of ATS6 high-tech satellite magnetometer, the bracket structure of folding solar panels of RCA and Satcom communication satellites, and the windshield pad, locator and navel door made of beryllium on the space shuttle.
